Despite a new deal offer from Crystal Palace last summer, Glasner informed chairman Steve Parish in October that he wouldn't renew his contract

Crystal Palace manager, Oliver Glasner, has confirmed his departure from the club upon the expiration of his contract at the end of this season. The 51-year-old Austrian will leave behind a legacy as a Palace legend, having guided the Eagles to their first major trophy.

Glasner led Crystal Palace to an unprecedented victory against Manchester City last season, securing their first-ever FA Cup. This triumph not only etched Glasner's name into the annals of Crystal Palace history but also ensured that he would oversee their debut in this season's Conference League - marking their maiden voyage into a major European competition.

In addition to these accomplishments, under Glasner’s leadership, Crystal Palace managed another significant win by defeating Liverpool on penalties in August’s Community Shield.

Contract negotiations and departure announcement

Despite being offered a new deal last summer by Crystal Palace management, sources told BBC Sport that Glasner had informed chairman Steve Parish back in October that he would not be renewing his contract. The official announcement made on Friday confirmed these speculations and set forth a clear timeline for his exit from the club.

Crystal Palace manager, Oliver Glasner, said:

"A decision has already been taken, months ago. I had a meeting with Steve [Parish] in October, the international break. We had a very long talk, and I told him I will not sign a new contract. We agreed at the time it was the best to keep it between us. It's the best that we could do that and keep it confidential for three months.

"But now it's important to have clarity, and we had a very busy schedule so that's why we didn't want to talk about it. Steve and I want the best for Crystal Palace."

The news of Glasner’s impending departure coincides with reports suggesting that team captain Marc Guehi is nearing a move to Manchester City. However, Glasner was quick to clarify that his decision was independent of any transfer decisions or negotiations taking place within the club. As sports fans and sports betting enthusiasts alike keep an eye on how these developments unfold at Crystal Palace, one thing remains certain: Oliver Glasner leaves behind an indelible mark as one of its most successful managers.
