Besides Lampard, Jose Bordalas of Getafe and Inigo Perez from Rayo Vallecano are also potential replacements for Glasner

Frank Lampard, the former Chelsea midfielder and current Coventry City manager, has been identified as a strong contender to replace Oliver Glasner as Crystal Palace manager. This news comes from talkSPORT, which reports that Lampard's impressive performance at Coventry City has significantly increased his appeal.

Lampard's successful season with Coventry City, who currently lead the Championship table by six points, has not gone unnoticed. Steve Parish, owner of Crystal Palace, is reportedly an admirer of Lampard and is expected to include him on the shortlist for a new manager.

In addition to Lampard, Getafe boss Jose Bordalas and Rayo Vallecano’s Inigo Perez are also being considered as potential successors to Glasner.

Uncertainty over future moves

Despite being a top contender for the position at Palace according to talkSPORT sources, it remains unclear whether Lampard would be willing to leave Coventry for Palace if he secures promotion with his current team this season.

The 47-year-old 'outstanding' coach is under contract with Coventry until the end of the 2026/27 campaign. He previously spent almost three years coaching Chelsea and Everton in the Premier League before taking over at Coventry when they were 17th in the Championship table. Under his leadership last season, they finished fifth after securing a play-off spot.

This term hasn't been without challenges though; despite losing only four out of their 27 league matches under Lampard's guidance this term so far; they have recently experienced a slump in form winning only twice across their last six games. A return to Premier League football would be monumental for Coventry - something that hasn't happened since 2001.

Current situation at Crystal Palace

On another note regarding Crystal Palace management issues, Oliver Glasner has been under scrutiny. After announcing his decision to leave the club at the end of his contract in October, he publicly criticized the club's management following a 2-1 loss to Sunderland.

Despite this outburst and Palace's recent poor performance - failing to win their last 10 matches across all competitions - it appears that Glasner will remain in post until his contract expires in June.

As Crystal Palace looks for a new manager, Frank Lampard emerges as a strong contender thanks to his impressive work with Coventry City. However, whether he would be willing to make the move remains uncertain. Meanwhile, despite recent controversies and poor performances, current manager Oliver Glasner is set to stay until his contract ends.
